Gia Labidi is an award winning and self-taught visual artist who has exhibited her artworks both nationally and internationally for 15 years. Gia is inspired by the essence of the divine feminine in nature and creates works that reflect her reverence and devotion to Goddess energy. Gia’s artworks are included in Old Dominion University’s permanent collection, Kawoo Gallery (South Korea), and private collections nationally and internationally.

My work is more about the creative process and less about the finished pieces. I enjoy the creative process and I create art across several visual mediums utilizing clay, wood, paper and found objects. In my process of creating, usually I have no plan. I’ve done no sketching. I have no idea how the pieces will end. Each piece starts with a desire to create—to make something happen. I manipulate the pieces pounding, pulling and pushing until I feel something—anything. I look to the materials, the hardwood and wet soft clay to tell me what they want to be, how they want to come together. I love to see the clay and wood take shape. It’s as if the materials are waiting for me to reveal what is hidden within their unique curves, smooth edges and secret places. In this process, I am moved to a state of primal clarity. Through the manipulation of these materials, I create artworks that are a celebration of life and the nature of the divine feminine.
